Activism vs. the human ego (sermon)

May 5th, 2011 | By Pirate

Damned if I do, damned if I don’t…..  But sorry if I’ve ever been a source of division or distraction for the common good of the freedom fight.   I don’t agree with every group.  Sorry.   It’s about principles and not so much personalities for me.

I try to forgive easy and move on.  Sometimes I just move on.   But I don’t think Im the best representative of any movement.  I am just the best that I can be, because it means a lot to me.  If that isn’t enough then lets get more voices out there.  Im sure there are literally millions of people in the densely populated world that could and do a better job at this than myself.   Me being a “self promoter”,  “pundit”, or “propagandist”.    What can I say.  Guilty.  Yes I apologize for anything that may have held anyone back, or detoured anyone’s participation.   That is not my goal and if it’s true that I have been this, and in some ways I do morn having a defiant ego.

There is a book that I bought that I believe has really helped me personally understand other people.
I am btw “The Day of the Soul Searchers“.

So this is a video that I made about it, and I also offered a video apology (minute 9, and minute 12) about a verbal/internet spat that carried out for way to far. I think a video is more personable than words with no eye contact.. Er Just me maybe?

Dave Bilsland Advocate for the less fortunate

April 12th, 2011 | By Pirate

Dave Bilsland is a guy I have met here in Spokane who quite honestly Ive yelled at.
But as a charming Irish gentleman, and a good political eagle Dave has not so much as raised his voice back. Dave has been a gentleman and fellow concerned citizen working for improving the lives of those around him.

I had some how missed this about Dave, though I had heard Dave speak about this, I didn’t actually know much about his structure and his professional approach to repealing the shelter ordinance in Spokane.

Dave’s participation in organizing: “Help 4 the Homeless” Contribution Drive is a really great story for inspiration as an activist.
I just got done telling Dave on facebook that even when I was homeless I didn’t accomplish as much for the homeless as Dave has.

My main drive has been to legalize cannabis as I believe it will benefit the other 99% who don’t have family wealth to rely on. Those who earn their money, including homeless and others. I think legalizing cannabis/hemp we will create a few more jobs and have some great products to produce out of locally grown hemp.

Dave Bilsland and many activists here in Spokane know about this as well. I am blessed to know how active this community is, and how when I came back to this city, I was simply comforted to hear through the grapevine that there was going to be a dispensary in Spokane, and when I heard about the dispensary I quickly got my recommend, as I had been a patient for many years for my condition.

After that there was some troubles, and NORML announced that they would be having some meetings. Of which I attended just about all of them from 2009 forward.

I was blessed to have met briefly some great activists, including a few who are involved in pushing the I-1149 campaign. Doug Hiatt was at a few meetings. It was good.

We have disagreed and we have had good times, all in all I just wanted to say cheers to David Bilsland, and thanks for all you are doing and thanks to those supportive members of this community who work together to see a brighter future for liberty in our state and our world!

I got this from the Sensible Spokane website:

May 1st, lots of CHANGE, and good change too!

May 2nd, 2010 | By Pirate

I was happy to be able to participate in the Global Marijuana March.  Got to see a lot of friends, and met new ones.  I continued to have more and more irie as the day passed.  What a blessing!  Praise Jah!

I wasn’t used to seeing this kind of a turn out.  When we protest in Utah and Idaho there are maybe 3 people at most.  Usually they are all related to me.  LOL  Sometimes we get a volunteer from drug court, which is cool!  I always try to protest at drug court, to kind of ease the pain of the victims that have to be violated there.  Even in Provo Utah, I get tons of support, but very few bodies to help out.

But protesting in WA has always been exciting!!!  Lots of participation, and people concerned about their civil rights!

As our way of saying thanks, we gave out what shirts we could to those that were working hard on advertising the I-1068 initiative.

We met several signature gatherers, I wish I would have had shirts for all of them.  I only came with 10 shirts, and I expected that to be more than enough.  But people were buying, trading, and getting shirts as soon as I got there.  More people wanted to buy shirts, but I had already given most of them away somehow.

We are dedicated to giving more I-1068 shirts away.

If anyone wants to support our efforts to give these shirts away, please visit Emerald Sun Design Studio and buy a few shirts from us.
Our prices our reasonable.  Especially for the continued 4/20 special sale.  We basically started the 420 Special sale for 4/20.  But since there are so many 4:20’s in a day, we just keep that special going and going.   So it’s the first shirt for $14.20, and you get the option of buy a I-1068 shirt for $4.20.    It rounds out to $20 with tax.  2 shirts for $20, thats our 4/20 special!

Also if you have had any trouble contacting me by email.  I have 30 different email accounts, so the best way for me to sort them is to get email via this contact form.  That way your email messages do not go to junk or get lost in cyberspace somehow.
This same contact form is also on our ABOUT page.
